There were rumors, when Inglourious Basterds first came out, that the movie was not very good. There were rumors that it was going to bankrupt the Weinstein brothers and that it was going to flop massively.
That’s why we shouldn’t listen to rumors. They’re so often wrong!
Estimates show Inglourious Basterds as having earned something to the effect of $227.91 million worldwide so far. Let me repeat that – $227.91 MILLION.
Everything that I’ve heard about this movie says that it’s amazing, and even though I didn’t get the opportunity to watch it in the theater (we have a really small theater here), I am definitely going to be watching it when it comes out on DVD.
And now we have a potential release date for that DVD release. Den of Geek is reporting that the US DVD and Blu-Ray release of Inglourious Basterds is December 15, 2009.
I’m not sure if this is accurate or not – I sort of hope it is, though! Do you think that Inglourious Basterds could be released so soon?
Sorry I’ve been absent a few days guys – I’ve been working on some things, including getting JPN to it’s new home! It should be there by the end of the weekend!
Brad made a lovely appearance at the San Sebastian Film Festival with Quentin Tarantino to present Inglourious Basterds – but from what I’m reading, no presentation is necessary! The world is flipping out over this movie. It has an 88% over at Rotten Tomatoes, which is definitely impressive!
Here are a few shots of Brad arriving, headed to the photo call and his appearance last evening! And you have to check out the shoes – are they too much or what?!
Have I ever told you about how I never saw Fight Club until a friend from work forced me to sit down and watch it? And then I thanked her profusely and kicked my own butt for never having watched it. I really like Fight Club. I think that it’s an amazing movie and that it will stand the test of time.
And now it will stand the test of time Blu-Ray style!
Fox will be releasing the Blu-ray version to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Fight Club on November 17th – just in time for Thanksgiving! So now you can have your Turkey and your Brad at the same time!
Fox says that this new version of one of our favorite movies will have a number of special features that will make any fan of the movie happy, including a feature that will allow you to remix the audio in four of the scenes of the movie (that’s totally up my alley).
Unfortunately, I don’t have a Blu-Ray player…yet. But I’m thinking that my November, I just may need to get one!
From 2008 Santa Barbara Film Festival = it makes me giggle because of the twins!
You all know that I’m not a huge Tarantino fan. I mean, his movies are okay, for the most part, but they’re not generally my cup of tea.
Apparently Kirk Douglas disagrees!
Check this out, straight from Variety:
The Santa Barbara Film Festival will fete Quentin Tarantino with the 2009 Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film.
The opening for the helmer’s “Inglourious Basterds” was his biggest to date, with $38 million at the domestic B.O. in its first weekend.
The honor will be presented by Douglas to Tarantino at the Four Seasons Biltmore in Santa Barbara during a gala dinner on Oct. 22.
The 25th Santa Barbara fest will run Feb. 4-14.
So he’ll receive the award at a gala dinner – but will he also get one at the Santa Barbara festival in February? And will Brad be on hand when Tarantino receives his award at the gala dinner? What do you guys think?
I’m still trying to catch up from the time I was gone! But it’s actually been really fun, because I’ve been able to look at more photos than I knew were out there!
While the Inglourious Basterds movie did great this weekend, I think my favorite part of the movie (even though I haven’t seen it yet) was, of course, the premiere! I always love how Angelina and Brad dress to match the style of the movie, and in leather, Angelina looks (as my husband always says) SMOKING HOT. Of course, she could look hot in a potato sack. Anyway, here are some of my newest favorite photos of the couple.
(Also, I’ve been trying to figure out what the picture oh Angelina’s ring is, and I can’t figure it out! It looks a little bit like a snake head – can you figure out what it is? I’m wondering if the boys or girls drew something for their mom!)
Looks like Inglourious Basterds did better than most industry experts expected it to do! The movie smashed through the expectations for it, raking in $37.6 M in it’s first weekend! The numbers break down as so:
Friday: $14.35 M
Saturday: $12.9 M
Sunday: $10.3 M
School is back in session for many children – my children don’t start until next Monday (someone send Calgon! Quick! They’re bickering already!) and I’m sure that while some children are in school, many parents might sneak away to see the movie!
My sister-in-law and I both really want to see it, so maybe, just maybe, we’ll sneak away next week when the kids start school!
(BTW, my youngest is starting kindergarten – someone save me!)
Here are a few fun videos of the premiere – enjoy!
